It's a Frozen Celebration!

Frozen Princess Elsa Party

Just like most parents, I was hoping she would just "Let it Go"!  But instead my little Elsa wanted to celebrate her birthday "Frozen" style.  "I want Elsa mommy!!"  She beamed and was so excited to have Elsa come to her home.

Personally I love the icy blue, white and silver colour palettes, but my daughter loved Anna as much as Elsa and wanted to incorporate both characters into the party décor.  I looked to the girl's dresses for inspiration, which is how I designed the cake.  We used the purple from Anna's dress, the blue from Elsa's and of course snowflakes and snow to include the cutest little snowman!

Now I had my colours and cake I needed to decide on food!  We included healthy options like carrots for "Olaf's nose", cheese strings "icicles" and chocolate covered strawberries "melting hearts".  For less healthy options we offered more of a candy bar with various colour themed treats.  Pearlized chocolate balls, candy sticks, rock candy, chocolate covered Oreos with snowflakes on top, chocolate dipped marshmallows and of course snowballs (powdered mini doughnuts).

All was decided but I needed an Elsa!  I contacted a local company and their Snow Queen was amazing!  She captured the girls (and boys attention) by doing snowman crafts, face tattoos and of course no visit from Elsa would be complete without singing "Let it Go".  The entire house filled with little Elsa's, Anna's and Olaf's singing their best!

To complete the activities each child was able to build their own Olaf with ice cream, pretzel sticks and mini eyes/noses.  What started out as hesitant planning, turned into one of the most fun parties yet!

Monster High Art Class - Party

Monster High Art Class

After moving to a new town and school, this birthday girl wanted to include friends from her first and current schools.  She wanted to have an activity that everyone could participate in, even if they were a little shy about not knowing all the other guests!

We decided on an Art "class" so that the girls could focus on something of their own, and then had a Monster High dance party, once the artistes had finished their masterpieces and become comfortable with each other.

Starting the party a bit backwards, party guests received their Loot Bags (Paint Cans!) when they arrived, full of everything they would need for the party.  An Apron, Canvas with their first initial already on it, glitter and extras they could add, a pencil and activity book for inspiration and some Monster High Swag.

The girls took their places in the workshop and went to town splattering, painting and designing their artwork.  Every colour of the rainbow was laid out along with paint pallets, way more brush options than I counted, water cans for cleaning between colours and paper towels for drying brushes.

After a minute to dry, we peeled off the letters to reveal their initial (mostly untouched) within their masterpiece.

Once the painting was finished, the girls dove into the snacks in the next room!

Keeping the Art theme with the food table, there was a Paint Palette cake, Paint (cake) Balls, Paint Brushes (hot dogs in pastry), Monster High colours carried through the candy and the backdrop was set to look like the colours were pouring out of paint cans!

Once the ice was broken, they were all happy to start games and playing together.  They had a dance party with Monster High Makeup and Beauty product prizes.

The party girls left with lots of new friends and their paint cans full of goodies!

Chugga Chugga Choo Choo!

Thomas the Train

For this little train lover, it simply had to be Thomas. In an attempt to simplify the party planning due to a time restraint, we booked a local private play place. Easy cleanup for me! However I still wanted to put my own special magic into it.

Birthday guests received their train tickets(invitations) to join the birthday boy. Each child stopped by the "baggage claim" to received their own train conductor hat and and wooden train whistle in specially made Thomas the train bags.

"Chugga Chugga Chew Chew"! The food table was converted into a train load of boxcars. Guests enjoyed boxcars of coal (Oreos), logs (pretzels), animals (animal crackers) and produce.

We even hosted a fueling station with personalized water bottles. Even when you are not hosting in a traditional location, it's always possible to make it your own event!

MICKEY MOUSE - Baby Mickey

M.I.C.K.E.Y.  M.O.U.S.E!

For this little boy’s first birthday he celebrated with a Baby Mickey theme.  This adorable theme consisted of soft yellows, blues, greens and of course baby Mickey.  We combined aspects from the children’s show “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” and from “Walt Disney World” itself to provide guests with a true Mouseketeer adventure.

The invitations were handmade Mickey ears that asked guests to arrive at the birthday boy’s clubhouse.  When guests arrived they were welcomed into a room with a table filled with mouse ear cookies with decorating options.

Creating the food was fun to prepare for this party.

We served clubhouse sandwiches, fruit and vegetables from Donald and Daisy’s vegetable garden and of course a baby Mickey themed cake.

Extra sweets consisted of Mickey Oreos, Mickey cupcakes with mouse ears in the middle of them and of course the infamous Rice Krispie Mickey Ears!

Put on your EARS, it's time for CHEERS!!!!

Vintage Birdie

When my littlest was about to turn 1, I didn't want to have a typical party.  I'd been to so may "baby elmo", "baby princess" and "baby Minnie" Turns 1 parties, that I needed something different.  No offence to the Elmo's and Minnie's out there, I'd done them already myself!

So for this 1st, I decided to draw inspiration from my sweet girl herself.  From the moment she was born, she was my baby bird.  Little mouth opening at the need for, or mere sight of bottles and food. My little Birdie, would have a Birdie Birthday.

The Vintage Birdie Birthday, was a palate of soft pinks, creams and browns; wired bird cages, lace ruffles and faux pearls.
Having the party in our home, meant the whole open concept, main floor would be party central.  With everything in site, I made sure to have little details throughout the space.  Birds and cages were placed on little shelves, cabinets and half walls, to carry the theme.

I found vintage and new pieces with the birdies as well as cages around town and then re-purposed with paint and updating to serve as displays and accessories.  I tied in china and crystal from my own collection as well with the punch bowl, cake platter, etc. I'm a sucker for antiques so it was really fun to style!

On the other side of the room, we had a crafting station for the kids to paint wooden birdhouses.  I love having little activities throughout the space for guests to rotate through.  When they have something that they can take home and remember the fun they had making, all the better!

I found a dozen or styles of houses that they could choose from.  We had paint palettes out and water dishes and just let the little ones jump in.  Huge success!

As a little game, I printed up a game of "put the birdie in their nest" and had a birdie for each child, with their name on it.  No squabbles over who's bird was who's.

For the main food table I continued the patterns from the water bottles and invites with the food cards. By continuing the colours and theme by incorporating things associated with birds, included a salad of fresh berries & leaves (mixed berries and greens), twigs (pretzel sticks),  swedish berries, marshmallow peanuts and worms in dirt (gummy worms in dark chocolate pudding and oreo crumbs on top).  There were little serving dishes of old fashioned candy sticks, scotch mints and rock candy, in coordinating colours as well as jelly beans and gumballs.

I made chocolate cake pops in the shape of birdies and arranged little birds nests, filled with jellybean eggs.

We had a smaller Smash Cake for the birthday girl to attach and little baggies of "Birdie Food" full of gummy worms, that guests could enjoy there or take home.

It was a wonderful afternoon with friends, family & feathers!

Yee-Haw!

                                                                                 YEE-HAW!!

This little boy loves horses and Sheriff Callie’s Wild West.  This Wild West hoedown was to celebrate him turning two!  Décor colour schemes were red, blue and horseshoes.

With a gathering at the ranch first, before heading to the farm to have pony rides, the children put on their cowboy hats, bandanas and badges to have some fun.

Everyone git your grub - we served "Well Water" "Tumbleweed Potato Salad" "Trail Mix" and of course beans and slaw!

Our little sheriff was thrilled when he saw his cake with a cowboy hat, boots and rope.

A trip to the local farm completed this wonderful birthday with horses, cows, wagon rides and of
course pony rides!
